Local Enterprise and Association Development (LEAD) offers a range of funding and support tailored to suit your stage of development and your specific funding needs. Funding and support from LEAD are closely aligned to a company’s stage of development, and are offered to qualifying LEAD clients under the General Projects Business Credit Facility.

We provide funding and support for:

 

  1. Entrepreneurs with business propositions (Start-up Idea)
    If your start-up business has the potential to develop an innovative product or service for sale here at home (local market) and the potential to create 10 jobs and R1m within 3 years of starting up.

  2. High Potential Start-Up (HPSU) Companies
    HPSUs are start-up businesses with the potential to develop an innovative product or service for sale on international markets and the potential to create 10 jobs and R1m in export sales within 3 years of starting up.

  3. Established SME Funding
    An Established SME client is a company that is not a HPSU client, has an established trading record, the company (or its group of companies) employs between 10 and 250 employees, has an annual turnover of less than R50m.

  4. Large Company Funding
    A large company is a company that employs greater than 250 employees, has an annual turnover of greater than R50m

Blended Loans - Blended Financing Scheme (BFS)

LEAD help existing companies get to the next level. Our repayable funding is unsecured, and gives qualifying clients access to up to 75% interest-free of the capital needed to grow your business or launch a new one. Learn more about Blended Financing

Looking for investors and investment funding? We can help you access a variety of sources of funding, including our own co-investment funds, as well as help your business prepare for investors.

Our funding is typically aimed at established businesses who are looking to grow. We inject R5-R15million of capital into your growth-ready business for a minority stake of up to 49%.
